EAC recommends grant of EC and CRZ clearance for expansion of outer harbour at Hazira Port

The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the MoEFCC recommended grant of environmental clearance (EC) and coastal regulation zone (CRZ) clearance for the expansion of the outer harbour project at Hazira port in its meeting held recently. The project involves the expansion of Hazira Port in Gujarat with the development of the outer harbour at an investment of Rs 140.31 billion. The scope of work includes development of 19 multipurpose berths in the outer harbour, conversion of existing berths into multipurpose berths, dredging, construction of a port basin and backup infrastructure, utilities, amenities, storage along with other ancillary facilities. Besides, the committee has recommended amendment to environmental and CRZ clearances for modification of the approved cargo handling capacity and cargo profile under Phase II of the Jaigarh port project in Maharashtra.
