Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal readying for exports from February 6, 2023

Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal (NSFT), the terminal jointly managed by J M Baxi Ports and Logistics Ltd & CMA Terminals, has announced that operations at this container terminal of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) will commence from February 10, 2023. NSFT will be ready for accepting export containers from February 6, 2023.

NSFT will be revamping the existing container terminal (JNPCT) at JNPA in two phases. It is expected to be fully completed by the fourth quarter of 2024.

Initially, NSFT will be operating one berth of 340 m with 5 quay cranes for handling container vessels, and will be subsequently further strengthened. The other berth area will be widened to increase the rail span from the existing 20 m to 30 m. On completion of this development, the terminal will have nine quay cranes, 27 rubber tyred gantry crane and three rail mounted gantry cranes for operation. NSFT will then operate a quay length of 680 m with an annual handling capacity of 1.8 million TEUs.

This will enable NSFT to handle large super Post Panamax vessels and cater to the increasing demand for container handling capacity in the region. NSFT will be equipped with the latest technology and equipment, enabling faster turnaround of vessels. The terminal will offer high productivity levels and a sustainable working environment.

NSFT welcomes the shipping and logistics fraternity which will benefit the trade, the communique highlighted.
