AgenceFrancaise de Developpement has approved funds worth Rs 4.12 billion in the form of a loan for the pan-city 24X7 water supply project in Chandigarh. In addition to this, the European Union is giving a grant of Rs 1 billion for the project. The repayment method of this loan will be through consumer water bills once the project is completed. The credit facility agreement for this project has already been signed between the French agency and the Department of Economic Affairs. This project is expected to save 145 million litres of groundwater per day.
