Petronet approves plan to set up LNG import terminal project in Odisha

Petronet LNG has approved a plan to set up an import terminal constituting a floating storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) for the re-gasification of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) at arrival. The FSRU is to be set up in Gopalpur Port, Odisha. It is expected to have a capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum. The plan has a provision for conversion to a land-based terminal, at a total project cost of Rs 23.06 billion. The terminal is expected to come online in three years and will be Petronet LNG’s first greenfield terminal in east India. Petronet LNG plans to connect the terminal to state-owned gas transportation company Gail’s trunk line, which is about 36 km away.
