MoP notifies concept note on pooling of tariff of 25 years plus thermal/gas generating stations

The MoP has notified a concept note on the pooling of tariffs for thermal/gas generating stations that are 25 years old, or older. The proposal has been formulated by the MoP to conserve capex and utilise the ca­pacity already available in the grid. To this end, a genco-wise common pool of stations matching the criteria will be created. Willing states and discoms will need to approach the generating company to requisition power from the common pool. The allocation will be made on a percentage basis. The unallocated power may be sold through the power exchanges.
