The government has inaugurated the onshore facilities of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC) U-field at Odalarevu in Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh. U-field is part of ONGC’s flagship deep-water KG-DWN-98/2 cluster II development project in the Krishna-Godavari basin. It has a potential gas production capacity of around 3 million standard cubic metres of natural gas per day. Natural gas from the field will be brought to the onshore facility through undersea pipelines before being dispatched to users. The subsea structures for this project are being fabricated indigenously for the first time at the Kattupalli Yard in Chennai, which has proved to be a boon for the development of the domestic exploration and production ecosystem, alongside fuelling extensive skill development.
