The central government has inaugurated the 520 km-long Nagpur-Shirdi stretch of the Mumbai-Nagpur Super Communication Expressway Project. The project involves the construction of a 701 km-long communication expressway from Nagpur to Mumbai, passing through Ghoti, Aurangabad and Amravati, and connecting the regions of Vidarbha, Marathwada and North Maharashtra in Maharashtra. Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited is implementing the project in 16 packages under the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode.
