Indian Railways’ (IR) freight loading for the April-October 2022 period has surpassed the loading and earnings for the corresponding period in the previous year. Freight loading in the said period stood at 855.63 mt, 9 per cent higher than the freight loading in the corresponding period last year (786.2 mt). On similar lines, IR’s earnings from freight loading stood at Rs 923.45 billion, 17 per cent higher than the freight earnings in the corresponding period last year (Rs 789.21 billion). Meanwhile, during October 2022, originating freight loading of 118.94 mt was registered against a loading of 117.34 mt in October 2021. Freight earnings of Rs 133.53 billion were achieved in October 2022 as against Rs 123.13 billion freight earnings in October 2021, registering an improvement of 8 per cent.
