Government plans to sell stakes in listed railways PSUs

The central government is planning to sell its stakes in listed railway PSUs in order to achieve its disinvestment targets. This is being done to raise money in financial year 2022-23. RITES, Indian Railway Construction Limited and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited may be among the first PSUs to sell their shares. The Ministry of Railways has asked PSUs under it to consider selling their shares for raising capital with the government doing the same. In the last few years, six railways PSUs have gone public.
