Development of GCTs in progress

Keeping in line with the Ministry of Railways (MoR) policy regarding the Gati Shakti Multimodal cargo terminal launched on December 15, 2021, Gati Shakti cargo terminals (GCTs) are being developed for handling rail cargoes. As of October 19, 2022, 15 GCTs have been commissioned and around 96 more locations have been provisionally identified for the development of GCTs. A total of 100 GCTs have been targeted to be commissioned within the next three financial years. The location of the GCTs is being decided on the basis of demand from the industry and the potential of cargo traffic. All new proposals for GCTs will be received only through the online portal. As of October 10, 2022, in-principle approvals for 67 new proposals have been issued.
