MoP issues corrigendum to RPO and ESO trajectory till 2029-30

The Ministry of Power (MoP) has issued a corrigendum to the renewable purchase obligation (RPO) and energy storage obligation (ESO) trajectory till 2029-30 order dated July 22, 2022. As per the corrigendum, as the wind power projects (WPPs) currently require a significant amount of investment compared to other renewable energy technologies, it has been felt that benefit should be given to states that have commissioned or tied up with WPPs in the recent past. Accordingly, it has been decided that the share of wind in non-solar RPO, which was in excess of 7 per cent as on March 31, 2022, has been considered for inclusion towards wind RPO. Hence, a new para has been added clarifying that wind RPO can be met by energy produced from WPPs commissioned after March 31, 2022 and any wind energy consumed over and above 7 per cent from WPPs commissioned till March 31, 2022.
