IR witnesses huge jump in passenger earnings

The total approximate earning of IR on originating basis in the April 1, 2022-October 8, 2022 period stood at Rs 334.76 billion, 92 per cent higher compared to the corresponding period in the previous year (Rs 173.94 billion). Meanwhile, in the reserved passenger segment, the total approximate number of passengers booked during the same period stood at 428.9 million, 24 per cent higher compared to the number of passengers booked during the corresponding period last year (345.6 million). The revenue generated from the reserved passenger segment in the April 1, 2022-October 8, 2022 period was registered at Rs 269.61 billion, compared to Rs 163.07 billion during the same period last year, an increase of 65 per cent. In the unreserved passenger segment, the total approximate number of passengers booked in the April 1, 2022-October 8, 2022 period stood at 2,685.6 million as compared to 905.7 million during the corresponding period last year, an increase of 197 per cent. The revenue generated from the unreserved passenger segment during the same period stood at Rs 65.15 billion as compared to Rs 10.86 billion during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 500 per cent.
