Preliminary groundwork commences for corridor II of Bengaluru Suburban Rail

Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited (K-RIDE) has commenced the preliminary groundwork for corridor II (Bai­yappanahalli to Chikkabanavara) of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (Bengaluru Com­muter Rail System). The project involves development of a 148.17 km-long suburban network in Bengaluru city. It is being implemented by K-RIDE in the following four corridors: Corridor 1: Bengaluru city to Yelahanka to Dev­anhalli + airport link route; Corri­dor 2: Baiyyappanahalli to Yesh­wan­tpura to Chikbanavar route; Corri­dor 3: Kengeri to Bengaluru city to White­field route; and Corridor 4: Heelalige to Yelahanka to Rajanakunte route. It is likely to be completed in six years.
