Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited (K-RIDE) has commenced the preliminary groundwork for corridor II (Baiyappanahalli to Chikkabanavara) of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (Bengaluru Commuter Rail System). The project involves development of a 148.17 km-long suburban network in Bengaluru city. It is being implemented by K-RIDE in the following four corridors: Corridor 1: Bengaluru city to Yelahanka to Devanhalli + airport link route; Corridor 2: Baiyyappanahalli to Yeshwantpura to Chikbanavar route; Corridor 3: Kengeri to Bengaluru city to Whitefield route; and Corridor 4: Heelalige to Yelahanka to Rajanakunte route. It is likely to be completed in six years.
