Work on Sultanpur-Varanasi road project to complete by December 2022

Construction work on the Sultanpur-Varanasi Four Laning Highway Project (NH-56) is expected to be completed by December 2022. The project involves four laning of the Sultanpur-Varanasi section of NH-56 from km 134.7 (design chainage 134.7 km) to km 271.3 (design chain­age 280.93 km) in Uttar Pradesh. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is implementing the project under the National Highways De­­ve­lopment Programme Phase IV on an engi­n­eering, procurement and construction basis at a cost of Rs 18.42 billion. The project is a part of the Varanasi-Lucknow four laning road project.
