A draft detailed project report has been prepared for the Mandi international airport project. The Ministry of Civil Aviation granted site clearance for the project on July 20, 2022. The Rs 9 billion project involves the setting up of an international airport at Mandi, nearly 153 km away from Shimla. It will be developed by a special purpose vehicle (SPV) formed by the Airports Authority of India (51 per cent) and the state government (49 per cent).
