IR reduces discounts for ferrying empty containers

IR has reduced the discounts it offers for ferrying empty containers and flat wagons, thereby increasing the overall charges it levies. Under the re­vis­ed rates, there will be a discount of 10 per cent. This is down from a 15 per cent discount on haulage charge per TEU for movement of empty co­ntainers and empty flat wagons. The revised charges will be valid from Au­gust 1, 2022 to October 31, 2022. In April 2022, the national transporter had decreased the discount it offers for the movement of empty containers and empty flat wagons from 25 per cent to 15 per cent, on the then prevailing haulage charge.
