5G spectrum auctions end with government netting over Rs 1.5 trillion; Jio emerges as top bidder

The government has netted over Rs 1.5 trillion during the recently concluded 5G spectrum auctions. The spectrum auctions concluded after seven days, driven by healthy bidding for 1800 MHz airwaves in the key Uttar Pradesh East circle. Reliance Jio acquired spectrum in the 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 1800 MHz, 3300 MHz and 26 GHz bands. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel acquired 19,800 MHz spectrum by securing a pan-India footprint of 3.5 GHz and 26 GHz bands. Besides, Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) acquired spectrum in the 3300 MHz and 26 GHz 5G bands, and Adani Data Networks bought 400 MHz of the 26 GHz band across six circles.
