RVNL, SMPK signs MoU for rail-port link

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), have signed an MoU for the infrastructure development of rail-port connectivity to improve the logistical efficiency of the port. Currently, SMPK owns and operates a twin dock railway system with an an­­nual capacity of 30 million metric tonnes. Under the agreement, an SPV can be formed to undertake project development, resource mobilisation and implementation of railway projects to improve port and hinterland connectivity including upgradation of the existing infrastructure at SMPK in West Bengal.
