MoPSW plans to make major ports competitive

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is planning to take steps to strengthen capacity and technology at major ports to make them competitive with private players. The ministry has asked the port authorities to make plans for developing them as mega ports by 2047. Along with capacity building, it has suggested that the major ports should draft land policy guidelines. For effective implementation of the Gati Shakti national multimodal connectivity plan, rail-road-waterways development has been prioritised. A total of 157 road connectivity projects and 137 rail connectivity projects are being undertaken for promoting multimodal connectivity at ports.
