Domestic air passenger traffic witnesses’ strong revival in demand

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, domestic air passengertraffic has witnessed a strong revival in demand. Indian carriers flew 12 million passengers on local routes in May 2022, recording a volume growth of over five times from 2.1 million in May 2021. With a market share of 57.9 per cent and 10.8 per cent, IndiGo and GoFirst ca­rried roughly 7 million and 1.28 million passengers in May 2022 res­pectively. Air India and Vistara carried 0.82 million and 0.98 million passengers respectively in May 2022.
