Commercial operation on the 2.1 km long Sealdah-Phoolbagan section of the Kolkata East-West Metro Project commenced on July 11, 2022. The project, being implemented by the Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation, involves the construction and operation of a 16.6 km long metro line connecting Sector 5, Salt Lake, in Kolkata to Howrah Maidan through an underwater metro track.
