The central government inaugurated the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (Bengaluru Commuter Rail System) on June 20, 2022. The project involves the development of a 148.17 km long suburban network in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It is being implemented by K-RIDE in four corridors – Corridor 1: Bengaluru City to Yelahanka to Devanhalli plus airport link route; Corridor 2: Baiyyappanahalli to Yeshwantpura to Chikbanavar route; Corridor 3: Kengeri to Bengaluru City to Whitefield route; and Corridor 4: Heelalige to Yelahanka to Rajanakunte route. It is likely to be completed in six years.
