The central government has sanctioned Rs 1.8 billion for the restoration of the railways network in Assam’s Dima Hasai district. The rail network in Hasao has been devastated by floods and landslides in the area during mid-May 2022. The restoration works are expected to be completed by July 10, 2022. The repair of damaged portions of the vital rail link will restore connectivity between the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys of Assam and reconnect Tripura, Mizoram and parts of Manipur with the rest of the country. After the damage to railway tracks at multiple locations, the Northeast Frontier Railway had suspended all trains through the Lumding-Badarpur Hill Section to Barak Valley.
