GMR Airports Limited, a subsidiary of GIL, has been appointed for the upgradation, modernisation, and operation and maintenance of the Multimodal International Cargo Hub and Airport (MIHAN) at Nagpur. This was ordered by the Supreme Court on May 9, 2022. A letter of award (LoA) had been granted to GIL by MIHAN India Limited (MIL) for the project in March 2019. However, in March 2020, MIL annulled the bidding process. The project involves the upgradation and modernisation of the existing Nagpur airport into a state-of-the-art airport in the state of Maharashtra.
