On April 5, 2022, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority allocated funds worth Rs 3.5 billion for the Noida (Jewar) International Airport under the 2022-23 budget. Meanwhile, around the same time, the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority also allocated funds worth Rs 7.56 billion for the project. According to reports, work on the terminal building, the first runway, and the air traffic control tower of the airport will begin in May 2022. Currently, ground-levelling work and construction of the boundary wall of the airport are under way. In the first phase, the airport will have one runway and a capacity of handling 12 million passengers annually.
