Centre allocates Rs 60 billion for development of North Eastern region

The central government has allocated Rs 60 billion to achieve the target of Har Ghar Jal in eight north-eastern states by 2024. The mission ensur­es the installation of tap water connections in every household along with service delivery and long-term sustainability. Manipur, Meghalaya and Sikkim aim to achieve the target by 2022 while Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura and Nagaland aim to do so by 2023. Assam aims to meet the goal by 2024.
