Airtel Uganda is reportedly planning to float an IPO by the end of 2022. The company had renewed its operating licence in 2020, with one of the conditions for the new licence being Airtel Uganda listing at least 20 per cent of equity on the local bourse. The firm has about 10 million subscribers and is the second largest operator after a unit of South Africa’s MTN Group. Earlier in December 2021, MTN Uganda had listed its shares on the Uganda Stock Exchange as part of its new licence. However, the company’s IPO was heavily undersubscribed.
