Airtel likely to raise up to Rs 50 billion via rupee bonds

Bharti Airtel is expected to raise up to Rs 50 billion in the near future via rupee-denominated notes in the domestic market as it looks to restructure its high-cost debt and strengthen its balance sheet ahead of the 5G spectrum auction. This is part of the company’s Rs 75 billion fundraising plans disclosed earlier. Apart from this, the telco is weighing two other possibilities – an offshore bond offering and a rupee loan from local banks.
