EAC recommends grant of ToR for Ganga expressway project

The expert appraisal committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has recommended grant of terms of reference (ToR) for the Ganga four-lane expressway project (Phase I). The project involves the construction of a 593.34 km long four-lane access-controlled expressway (expandable to six lanes) over the Ganga river from Me­erut to Prayagraj in the state of Uttar Pradesh, at an investment of Rs 456.65 billion. It would connect Amroha, Bulandshahr, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Farrukhabad, Hardoi, Kannauj, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Pratapgarh to Prayagraj and will have five major bridges, eight rail over-bridges and 18 flyovers under the PPP basis. It is expected to be completed by 2024.
