Airtel commissions 21 MW solar power unit in Maharashtra

Bharti Airtel has announced the commissioning of a new 21 MW solar power plant in Bhuldana district of Maharashtra, as part of its commitment to progressively reduce the carbon footprint and contribute to global efforts to curb the effects of climate change. The captive power unit, which is spread over 80 acres, has been set up by Airtel in partnership with Avaada to supply clean energy to Nxtra by Airtel’s large and edge data centres and switching centres in the state of Maharashtra. The company ex­pects a significant reduction of 25,517 tonnes in carbon emissions annually through this unit.
