Ministry of Shipping of Bangladesh asked for transshipment of Indian goods through Chittagong port

The Ministry of Shipping of Bangladesh has asked the Indian authorities to conduct more transshipment trials before agreeing on the transship­me­nt of Indian goods through Chittagong port. According to reports, the Bay terminal of Chittagong port will start operations by 2024 and the port au­thorities have finalised the name of a consultant for the project. Under the coastal shipping agreement, there are direct shipping services bet­ween Chittagong port and several Indian ports. A jetty at the New Mooring Con­tainer Terminal of Chittagong port is designated for ships on this route.
