Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port becomes first major port to have ROIP system

The Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Trust (erstwhile Kolkata Port Trust) inaugurated the radio over internet protocol (ROIP) system on October 25, 2021. Introduced for the first time at a major port, the ROIP system will encompass the entire Hooghly river estuary from Kolkata to Sandheads. The base stations will be located at Kolkata, Hugli Point, Haldia and Sagar pilot station.
