India-Myanmar road project nearing completion

Construction of an 87 km stretch of a cross-border road between Mizoram’s Lawngtlai town and neighbouring Myanmar’s Sittwe port is close to completion. The road is part of the Kaladan multimodal transit transport project, which is being viewed as India’s gateway to Southeast Asia. On completion, the road will connect Kolkata in West Bengal with the Sittwe seaport in Rakhine state of Myanmar.
