According to reports, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is likely to procure two counter-drone systems worth Rs 99 million in 2022-23. The counter-drone system is expected to provide a comprehensive, multi-sensor-based solution for drone detection, tracking, identification and neutralisation. Counter-drone technology uses radars, radio frequency devices, electro-optical methods, acoustic mechanisms or combined sensor technology to stop unmanned aerial vehicles. There is no official data about the number of civilian drones operating in India. However, according to estimates, there are 0.4-0.6 million drones in the country. A significant number of parts that are used in manufacturing drones are imported from China and other countries.
