The MoP has approved the amendments to the existing renewable energy certificate (REC) mechanism. The key changes include the removal of floor and forbearance price limits, and determination of REC prices by market conditions. The validity of an REC would be perpetual, that is, till it is sold. The proposed changes will be implemented by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission through a regulatory process.
