Centre to offer Rs 413.69 billion worth of transmission projects under GEC plan

The central government plans to offer 44 new transmission projects worth about Rs 414 billion under the Green Energy Corridors (GEC) programme. These projects will evacuate about 38 GW of renewable energy from the western and northern parts of the country. The National Committee of Transmission has approved these projects, which will be offered under the tariff-based competitive bidding process. The projects are a part of the central government’s flagship GEC programme, which aims at connecting RE zones (REZ) with the national grid. The progra­m­me’s major projects include Rajasthan REZ, Gujarat (Khavda), system strengthening in the north, system strengthening in the south, Gujarat (Dholera), Rajasthan (Neemuch), and Bhatapara augmentation.
