IR registers highest ever freight loading in July 2021

In a major development, Indian Railways (IR) yet again registered the highest ever freight loading in July 2021. This has continued for the past 11 months since September 2020 amidst the ongoing pandemic. IR achieved the highest-ever incremental freight loading of 17.54 mt in July 2021 (an increase of 18.43 per cent over the corresponding period in July 2020). The total freight loading in July 2021 stood at 112.72 mt as against the earlier best of 99.74 mt in July 2019 and 95.18 mt for the corresponding period in July 2020. Meanwhile, with a freight loading of 451.97 mt in the current fiscal year 2021-22 as compared to 336.74 mt for the corresponding period up to July 2020, IR has also achieved the highest-ever cumulative incremental freight loading of 115.23 mt, that is, 34.22 per cent over that in the corresponding period in 2020-21.
