Government launches Phase II of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Uttar Pradesh

The central government has launched Ujjwala 2.0, that is, the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), at Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh. The objective of the scheme is to issue deposit-free LPG connections to 10 million families that were not covered under the first phase of the PMUY. The government aims to provide LPG services to 100 per cent of the poor households, who were otherwise dependent on traditional cooking fuels. In addition, the central government has also dedicated a 9 tonne per day compressed biogas plant of Indian Potash Limited (at Rohanakalan, Muzaffarnagar) and three retail outlets of Indian Oil at Muzaffarnagar (Chadravati filling station, Kissan filling station and Agarwal service station) to the nation.
