The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety has granted safety clearance for the Zero Mile Freedom Park-Kasturchand Park stretch of the Nagpur metro rail project’s Phase I. The stretch forms part of the Sitabuldi-Automotive Square (Reach 2) of the project. The project involves development of a 38.21 km long metro rail system in Nagpur, Maharashtra, with an investment of Rs 86.8 billion. It is to be developed in two phases – Corridor I (North-South Corridor), covering a distance of 19.65 km from Automotive Square to Mihan, and Corridor II (East-West Corridor), covering a distance of 18.55 km from Prajapati Nagar-Wardhaman Nagar to Hingna.
