IR maintains high momentum of freight loading in June 2021

In a notable development, IR freight figures continued to maintain high momentum in terms of revenue and loading in the month of June 2021. IR’s freight loading in June 2021 stood at 112.65 mt, 11.19 per cent higher than in June 2019 (101.31 mt) and 20.37 per cent higher than in June 2020 (93.59 mt).The important commodities transported in June 2021 include coal (50.03 mt), iron ore (14.53 mt), pig iron and finished steel (5.53 mt), foodgrains (5.53 mt), fertilisers (4.71 mt) mineral oil (3.66 mt), cement (excluding clinker) (6.59 mt), and clinker (4.28 mt). Meanwhile, IR generated a revenue of Rs 111.87 billion from freight loading, 26.7 per cent higher than in June 2020 (Rs 88.29 billion) and 4.48 per cent higher than in June 2019 (Rs 107.08 billion).
