As of May 31, 2021, the Indian shipping industry had a fleet of 1,484 vessels with 12.96 million gross tonnage (GT) and 19.49 million deadweight tonnage (DWT). Of this, 1,017 were coastal vessels with 1.57 million GT (1.75 million DWT) and 467 were overseas vessels with 11.39 million GT (17.73 million DWT).
