Government finalises seven berths at major ports for privatisation

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has prepared a list of seven operational cargo berths, run by major ports, that will be privatised through the public-private partnership (PPP) route during 2021-22. The development comes in light of the recent announcement of moving the state-run ports from a “trustee” set-up to an “authority” model of governance. The seven projects identified for monetisation/privatisation are estimated to draw investments worth Rs 25.51 billion for modernisation and upgradation.
