GAIL plans to convert an existing liquid petroleum gas plant at Usar in Raigad district of Maharashtra into a petroleum complex for producing polypropylene. It will have a capacity of 500,000 tonnes per annum by 2023-24. The petroleum complex is expected to be built at a cost of Rs 88 billion. The company’s revised plan, Strategy 2030, aims to diversify its portfolio by entering the petrochemicals and piped LNG, renewable energy and biofuel production segments.
