DCC accepts TRAI’s call for allowing VSAT operators to provide satellite-based backhaul connectivity to telcos

The Digital Communications Commission has accepted the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s call to allow very small aperture terminal (VSAT) operators to provide satellite-based cellular backhaul connectivity to telcos. The decision is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted mobile broadband coverage in remote and far-flung regions. Further, it approved the request for proposal for PPP under the BharatNet project.
