Domestic airlines to incur Rs 95 billion-Rs 100 billion net loss in financial year 2022

Crisil has reported that domestic airlines will incur a net loss of Rs 95 billion-Rs 100 billion in the 2022 fiscal due to lower domestic air traffic as compared to pre-pandemic levels, high fuel prices and limited recovery in international operations. The loss is, however, expected to be 35-40 per cent lower than the projected loss in financial year 2021. Despite the second wave-induced fresh curbs, which will temper recovery, domestic traffic in the first half of this fiscal is likely to be 3.5-4 times higher year on year, on a low base.
