The Public Investment Board has approved the implementation of Phases 2A and 2B of the Bengaluru metro rail project. The proposals have been submitted to the Cabinet Committee for Economic Affairs for approval. Phase 2A involves the development of a metro rail network from Krishna Raja Puram (KR Puram) to Silk Board in the city at an estimated cost of Rs 59.94 billion. Phase 2B involves the development of a 38 km long metro rail system to connect Nagawara, Hebbal and Bengaluru airport, also known as the Kempegowda International Airport, at an estimated cost of Rs 105.84 billion.
