IR hikes fare for passenger trains

IR has slightly raised the fares for passenger and other short distance trains in a bid to discourage people from unnecessary and avoidable travell. The fares have been fixed to be on a par with the price of unreserved tickets for mail/express trains travelling the same distance. It is a proactive measure taken by IR, with a view to prevent crowding in trains and regulate rush at the stations in order to stem the spread of Covid-19. The situation is being constantly monitored to ensure the restoration of services, in keeping with Covid-19 protocols.
