DGCA announces growth in India’s commercial fleet size

The DGCA has reported that India’s total commercial aircraft fleet stands at 716 as of end 2020. As per official figures, India had 695 aircraft at the beginning of 2020. Over the year, 73 aircraft were added while 52 were sent back to the lessors by the airlines. Moreover, the central government recently notified the aircraft leasing business in India, which is expected to give capacity addition a further impetus and lower the cost.
