Singapore Airlines, with which Tata Sons operates a full-service airline, Vistara, has reportedly waived off a non-compete clause and is unlikely to partner with the Tata Group to bid for the national carrier, Air India. In December 2020, the Tata Group had submitted an expression of interest for the embattled airline. The no-compete clause was a hindrance to Tata Sons’ solo bid for Air India.
The government has formally sealed the Rs 480 billion deal to procure 83 Tejas light combat aircrafts (LCAs) from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Recently, the cabinet committee on security has approved a deal for the procurement of the 73 Tejas Mk-IA variant and 10 LCA Tejas Mk-I trainer aircraft from HAL to boost the IAF’s combat prowess.
