As on December 31, 2020, the Indian shipping industry has a fleet of 1,463 vessels of 13.01 million gross tonnage (GT) and 19.69 million deadweight tonnage (DWT). Of the total vessels, 998 were coastal vessels with a tonnage of 1.67 million GT (1.85 million DWT) and 465 overseas vessels of 11.34 million GT (17.84 million DWT). During December 2020, 10 coastal vessels of 50,805 GT (75,014 DWT) were added to the overall fleet. In addition, three overseas vessels of 0.14 million GT (0.23 million DWT) were added and three overseas vessels of 0.13 million GT (0.22 million DWT) were deleted from the overall fleet.
